Suspended ceiling - plaster board

2'0" x 4'0" plaster board or plaster ceiling board was used to be very popular in the construction of suspended ceiling in Selangor, especially for eatery and coffee shop ( mamak restaurant ). This ceiling board / ceiling tile was chosen over gypsum board for it's price.

But in the last few years, gypsum board has become the most commonly used ceiling board for suspended ceiling in Klang Valley, Selangor. The difference in price between the two types of ceiling boards has been narrowed down to become marginal.

Gypsum ceiling board, being thicker, will not sag as much as compared to plaster ceiling board under a humid interior condition.  Because of this feature, most of our customers from the factories in Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya and Port Klang have chosen gypsum board over plaster board for their suspended ceiling.

Gypsum board partition - unique feature

Gypsum board partition in Selangor, Malaysia is very popular for constructing offices due to the method of construction as illustrated in the above diagram.

By sandwiching two pieces of gypsum board on to the galvanised iron metal stud, the partition wall so constructed can provide sound insulation and help limit the spread of fire.

Gypsum board partition in Selangor, as a standard practice, is constructed with close coordination between the partition installer and the electrician / wireman. Electrical wiring and network cables will be carried out before the partition board is close up / installed. This will make the wiring work easier and overall job process faster. As can be seen in the diagram, the finishing on the wall is very neat as there is no hacking and chipping or any visible external casing running across the wall.

Tempered glass as fixed panel on partition, door and window - The rationale

1.0 Public places like kinder-garden, daycare center  should use tempered glass instead of the normal float glass for the panel of the partition, door and window. In fact all business premises which have children coming in and out should use tempered glass for the same purpose. But to save costs, MAJORITY of the customers, individuals and companies alike, don't do that.

2.0 What are the safety features that tempered glass provide that normal glass doesn't?

2.1 It is four times stronger in handling impacts.
2.2 If any of the panel or pane fails, the whole piece shatters.
2.3 If it does break, it doesn't shatter into sharp edges but snaps apart into oval-shape pebbles.
2.4 Should injury happens, it will be just cut on the skin not deep-cut.
2.5 It is heat resistant.

3.0 Tempered glass is also called safety glass.
